More than 1.2 million people tuned in to watch the actual birth.

The zoo is located in rural Harpursville, 15 miles (24.1 kilometers) northeast of Binghamton in upstate NY.

April has her own website and even an apparel line. Jordan Patch, owner of the Animal Adventure Park, blamed "a handful of extremists and animal rights activists" for the interruption.

April the Giraffe will naturally raise the calf, Animal Adventure Park reported.

Giraffes have one of the longest gestation periods of any animal, about 15 months.

Why was April pregnant for what felt like forever? According to KYMX News, when Mazuri's contract expired, Animal Adventure Park was scrambling to find a new sponsor. People around the world have been tuning in daily.

Currently, the park is looking for a name for the new baby. The proud father, a five-year-old named Oliver, watched from an adjacent pen.

A zoo spokesperson says the delivery could take all day Saturday.

The feed of April's pregnancy had been briefly interrupted by YouTube in February after complaints by some viewers over what they deemed to be "sexually explicit" content.

Hundreds of thousands of viewers have watched the 15-year-old April since then, and more than a million people witnessed the birth on the livestream.

Though details of the calf are scarce, the Associated Press notes, newborn giraffes typically weigh around 150 pounds and are about 6 feet at birth. After the baby has naturally weaned, the calf will eventually be moved to a new facility to begin a breeding program at that new facility.
