Until the 45th minute of Ajax's second leg match in the Europa League semis, they clearly dominated Lyon and it seemed the Dutch side would cruise to Europa League final in Stockholm.

Lyon boss Bruno Genesio says he remains positive the French club can overturn a three-goal deficit against Ajax to reach the Europa League final.

Crushing victory in Amsterdam allowed "Ajax" to make a step towards the final of the Europa League.

"There was nothing going on until the last minute of the first half, when everything went wrong".

There was more hope when Viergever was handed a second yellow card in the 84th minute.

Nevertheless, if they face Manchester United in the same manner, they will only make it easier for Mourinho to clinch the Champions League ticket because this type of petrified reaction from the opponent is what the Special One wants.

Lyon Lineup: Anthony Lopes, Mouctar Diakhaby, Nicolas N'Koulou, Jérémy Morel, Rafael, Nabil Fekir, Maxime Gonalons, Corentin Tolisso, Alexandre Lacazette, Mathieu Valbuena, Maxwel Cornet.

Maxwel Cornet nearly forced extra time with a shot which flew inches wide of the far post in the final minute, but a clearly rattled Ajax managed to hold on. The three-goal lead will be hard to overcome, but not impossible for Lyon. As a result, we're taking Lyon on here as Ajax should have plenty of chances against their suspect defence. But they were on the brink of getting eliminated after a poor display in the second leg. Team Ajax hot back in the race for the throne in Eredivisie with a demolishing 4-0 win over the rock-bottomed Go Ahead Eagles on Sunday.

"A great team. Now we'll have to see if we can really write history".

"We weren't far away from qualifying. We were so close to the final, it's hard to take", Lacazette said. The talismanic striker was absent in the first-leg of the tie and could be a sore miss, if he was to be unavailable for the second leg as well. "We weren't serious enough or good enough defensively in the first leg".
