Speaking at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, Trump says he is "personally committed to helping Israelis and Palestinians achieve a peace agreement". An explicit endorsement of a two-state solution, which has been U.S. policy for more than a quarter-century."Therefore, will all due respect, it is not the United States embassy that is the more important thing the city is lacking, but rather tools and resources and significant decisions on changing directions", he said. It also urges a "just settlement" of the Palestinian refugee problem.

The President is urging the USA and Israel to boost cooperation against common threats, and declaring that Iran never be allowed to have a nuclear weapon.

"Even as we work toward peace, we will build strength to defend our nations".

He says his meetings earlier in the day with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas lead him to believe that "the Palestinians are ready to reach for peace".

"President Abbas noted that he was ready to begin negotiating (with Israel) immediately", the readout said. Israeli leaders were clearly happy that the U.S president had visited their county within the first few months of taking up office. "He wants peace", he said. "We must be resolute in condemning such acts in a single, unified voice".

Trump's visit to Jerusalem has been laden with religious symbolism.

Back in Jerusalem - Trump laid a wreath at Israel's Holocaust Memorial and delivered a pre-departure keynote address punctuated by Israel-support, a push for Palestinian-Israeli peace and assurances of his administration's position on Iran.

Instead, he focused on stamping out terrorism.

The global community regards all Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories as illegal and a major obstacle to Middle East peace.

"President Trump stressed the importance of creating an environment consistent with the desire for peace", the readout said.

"There are many things that can happen now that could never have happened before", Trump said during the visit. The president was in Rome on Tuesday for a meeting with Pope Francis.

His words matched his actions during his visit here.

Trump's meeting with Abbas took place a day after the American leader's historic visit to Jerusalem's Western Wall (Kotel), the first such visit to the holy site by a sitting US president. Due to its location beyond the 1967 borders, presidents have avoided visiting the site for fear it would send a message to Palestinians that the United States recognized that the wall was part of Israeli sovereign territory. Around Bethlehem, it's a tall concrete wall covered in graffiti.

Netanyahu is reportedly meeting with USA envoy representative Jason Greenblatt on Thursday in Jerusalem to continue discussions that took place during Trump's visit in Israel. "It is deeply, deeply appreciated".
