Since many people don't know Jones and his views, Kelly noted the importance of explaining them. has exclusively learned that former Fox personality Megyn Kelly has been a "ratings disaster" - and she's only been on the job a few weeks! Cristina Hassinger, the daughter of the woman who was Sandy Hook's principal, told The New York Times that claims such as Jones' have caused survivors and families incredible pain.

The 2012 Sandy Hook shooting left 20 children, six staff members, and the shooter's mother dead.

"When you say parents faked their children's death, people get very angry", Kelly said, nearly in a childlike tone.

A #ShameonNBC hashtag began trending on Twitter with an outcry of concern about giving a platform to Jones, who in the past has supported conspiracy theories about the government blowing up the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City in 1995 and the 9/11 terror attacks. Jones also declared 9/11 an inside job and the Aurora shooting in Colorado another staged "false flag", and he was one of the biggest pushers of the so-called "Pizzagate" theory, which accused a Washington, D.C., pizza parlor called Comet Ping Pong of running a hidden child sex-abuse ring that involved Hillary Clinton's campaign staffers. "We're not just giving him a platform". "Say her name - stare at this & tell me it's worth it. @nbc #SandyHook", she wrote. But he has appeared more legitimate in some circles because President Donald Trump called him a "nice guy" and the White House last month gave InfoWars a temporary press credential. I promise you it's not riveting.

The family of Vicki Soto, a teacher who was killed at Sandy Hook, posted a letter on Facebook about the interview.

"They lit my face from the side and under, like you light somebody for a Halloween piece, for a horror movie", he said, repeatedly calling Kelly "the gorgon" and "Medusa". "You should be ashamed of yourselves for allowing this behavior". The interview has received so much criticism, in fact, that some are saying that they will boycott the show - and the entire network - if the episode, which is slated for Father's Day, does indeed air.

To many people, Jones' views are not only baseless but reckless, offensive and downright weird.

In her defense, Kelly said she's simply shining a light on an increasingly important media figure. "This is pathetic. The only way I could fail was not doing it, and letting them rig it, and letting them interview me for four hours to edit it together, and then be able to show people what was really said".

Megyn Kelly is facing backlash on social media regarding an upcoming NBC interview with InfoWars host Alex Jones, including from Chelsea Clinton.
