Ubisoft came out of the gate at E3 with details on their Rabbids/Super Mario crossover, with Miyamoto himself coming out on stage, brandishing a toy blaster we have seen in the leaked media images for Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. Focusing on tactical battling and placement, the game seems to be taking Mario and his friends in a different direction but one that promises a radically different, hopefully fun experience.

The "Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle" was created with Snowdrop, a custom and intelligent engine that powers many of Ubisoft's games. Players will use turn-based combat to strategically move their heroes across the battlefield to gain higher ground, utilize the pipe system and destructible environments, and receive a friendly boost from their teammates to get into their optimal firing position. Players need to collect coins, solve basic environmental problems in their exploration.

Ubisoft is releasing figurines for Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, but they aren't amiibo.

WCCF Tech reported the plot started with the Mushroom Kingdom has been torn apart by a mysterious vortex, transporting the chaotic Rabbids into this once peaceful land.

Japan's Nintendo has agreed to lend France's Ubisoft its famous moustachioed plumber Mario for the game, due out in late August on the Switch console. There is an exploration part of the Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle that is similar to the standard 3D Mario game. All pre-orders will also receive a set of eight in-game exclusive weapons with unique stats. For the 2016-17 fiscal year Ubisoft generated sales of €1,460 million. Trademarks are property of their respective owners.
