Sophie Turner is reprising her role as the X-Men heroine Jean Grey, aka Phoenix, a telepath who, in the comics, saw her powers become amplified to the Nth degree when she becomes imbued by a cosmic energy called the Phoenix Force.

Fox has announced the next installment of their X-Men franchise to be Dark Phoenix.

But either way, Lilandra's inclusion implies the Shi'ar, and the Shi'ar imply that Kinberg, who also wrote the script for Dark Phoenix, will be taking the franchise cosmic, a setting of numerous X-Men's most famous stories, but a new and interesting turn for the oldest still running franchise in our modern superhero trend.

At the same time, Fox is getting the band together one more time and has closed deals with Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Nicholas Hoult to return to the franchise after their original three-picture deals expired. And according to a new report, Jessica Chastain is in talks to join the sequel as the X-Men's latest adversary. Kinberg has also been involved as a producer of X-Men spinoff films, including 2016's Deadpool and the upcoming New Mutants. A complaint about X-Men: Apocalypse was that the X-Men movies had evolved in almost a decade and fresh blood was needed. This has left fans to wonder whether other elements of the Dark Phoenix story will be adapted. The filmmaker has been producing the series since 2011's X-Men: First Class, and co-wrote X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse. Essentially, Dark Phoenix will be one big X-Men: Apocalypse reunion, although it's very doubtful we'll have another Hugh Jackman cameo.

The film has a release date of Friday, Nov. 2, 2018. For those of you out there who haven't read the comics and just went "huh?", Lilandra is a pivotal player in the Dark Phoenix storyline.
