Mika family says he suffered multiple gun shots

A former legislative aide for Seventh District Republican Congressman Tim Walberg was among the five persons shot Wednesday morning when a gunman opened fire on G.O.P. lawmakers who were practicing for a charity baseball game. He is in critical condition in the intensive care unit at George University Hospital. "We're deeply concerned about him and his family".

Matt Mika, a 2004 graduate and recipient of a master's in public administration and public policy, was shot while he and others were practicing in the morning Wednesday, June 14, in Alexandria, Va., ABC News confirms.

Mika's family said Thursday that Mika suffered "massive trauma", needs breathing assistance and will need more surgery.

Rep. Mike Bishop a Republican representing Michigan's 8th Congressional District, said the entire MI delegation will wear white ribbons in honor of Mika on Thursday night. The onetime congressional staffer, who is now the director of government relations for Tyson Foods, is now in critical condition after being shot multiple times, according to his family.

This is the second time Landrieu has rearranged his schedule to react to the Scalise shooting.

The shooting took place at a practice for the GOP congressional baseball team.

"Matt Mika, one of the guys who helps us, is here at the hospital", Rep.

Mika's family added that "baseball is one of his great passions". "He's a great guy". Mika once served on Walberg's staff. "You know the American people see us on TV debating very contentious issues of concern, but you know when we're off the House and Senate floor, there's a lot of camaraderie", Cotton said.
