Speaking with CS shortly before the original film's release, O'Connor was optimistic about the chances for an Accountant sequel.

Are you glad to hear that we're getting a sequel to The Accountant?

Ben Affleck is in talks to return for a sequel to Warner Bros.' guns-and-spreadsheets action flick "The Accountant", a person familiar with the project told TheWrap.

"There's more to be explored with this character", he said.

There is no news yet about Jon Bernthal's return, but it seems a given considering how important his character was in the first film. "What excites me is that, most franchises are IPs that people know about". Books or comic books and superheroes. This is all brand new for everybody.

The Accountant stars Affleck as accountant Chris Wolff, a beyond-genius-level savant forensic accountant who, besides being a unsafe, highly-trained combatant, moonlights as a freelance fixer for the criminal underground. Using a small-town CPA office as a cover, he makes his living as a freelance accountant for risky criminal organisations. But as Christian uncooks the books and gets closer to the truth, it is the body count that starts to rise. In fact, The Accountant actually was infinitely better than Jason Bourne, though it did make me wish it was possible to see Ben Affleck and Matt Damon's unsafe characters go head-to-head on the big screen somehow. The film grossed a solid $155.1 million worldwide, which is fine but doesn't exactly scream "sequel" so it's curious to see Warner Bros. putting this follow-up together.
