It's expected that the production team will stick around for the sequel, with Geoff Johns working on the script with Jenkins. Jenkins return, however, isn't official yet.

Spoiler alert: Chris Pine's Steve Trevor does not emerged from Wonder Woman's final conflict unscathed, so it's surprising to learn that Pine is reportedly back on board for the next film.

Wonder Woman's current domestic total in North America stands at $368.4 million (£286.8 million), while it has grossed $747.5 million (£582 million) globally to date. Gal Gadot stars as Diana Prince a.k.a. Director Patty Jenkins earned the honor of having the biggest opening weekend for a film directed by a female director, while the film has officially become the top-grossing live-action film directed by a woman. So even though Winter Soldier took place in the modern day, I can't help but feel like Wonder Woman is hewing to a similar formula.

Just this week however, Ryan's film was surpassed by another superhero movie, Wonder Woman. While Deadpool still leads the worldwide box office with $783 million, Wonder Woman could easily fly by that benchmark in the near future, too.

But there's another possibility: if Pine really does return, he could play a distant relative of Steve Trevor. However, you can't deny the on-screen chemistry between Gal Gadot and Chris Pine - it was one of the strongest parts of Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman 2 will be released after Justice League hits theaters in November, but presumably won't deal with the aftermath of the events in the anticipated team-up film like Aquaman is set to do. Wonder Woman 2 "I made Wonder Woman, now I want to make Wonder Woman 2". Convinced that she can stop the threat, Diana leaves her home for the first time.
