A native of Bakersfield, Calif., Cotton-Moya led the team with three takeaways and tied for the team lead with two interceptions.

A Houston, Texas, native, Armstrong is the first Kansas player to be named a preseason individual award victor during its time playing in the Big 12 Conference.

Armstrong last season had 10 sacks and led the Big 12 with 20 tackles for loss.

The Big 12 has its eyes on four Oklahoma State football players before the season begins on August 31 against Tulsa. Since OU's first Big 12 title in 2000, no other program has won more than two.

Earlier today it was announced that five Sooners had been named to the 2017 Preseason All-Big 12 Team and that fifth-year-senior quarterback Baker Mayfield is the conference's preseason Offensive Player of the Year.

Risner started all 13 games at right tackle in 2016 after starting every game at center the year prior. In KU's 24-21 overtime victory, Armstrong notched 11 tackles, made 3.0 tackles behind the line-of-scrimmage and sacked the Longhorns quarterback twice to go along with a forced fumble and fumble recovery. Monday, July 17 and Tuesday, July 18, the annual Big 12 Football Media Days will be conducted in Frisco and televised live on FS2 and other FOX Sports affiliates from 9 1 p.m. Only three players were unanimous selections at their position, with Kansas defensive lineman Dorrance Armstrong, Oklahoma offensive lineman Orlando Brown and Oklahoma State receiver James Washington.

Armstrong and his KU football squad will begin the 2017 season on Saturday, September 2 with a home game against Southeast Missouri State. Kansas State earned one first-place vote and was picked third, followed by Texas, TCU, WVU, Baylor, Texas Tech, Iowa State and Kansas.
