House Democrats move to force Republican votes to defend Trump

She said House Republicans are fully prepared to coordinate with the Senate and move the bill forward, "but House Democrats are blocking that and demanding their own changes to the bill".

Democrats have accused House Republicans of stalling the previous sanctions package because of the Trump administration's concern over imposing limits on the U.S. president's decision making powers over Russian Federation. The procedure for its adoption in Congress was suspended due to the constitutional requirement that all legislative initiatives concerning budget expenditures should be endorsed first in the lower, and then in the upper house.

But we know one thing for sure, we have a responsibility and our oath of office to make sure that Russian Federation does not meddle in our elections again.

Between March 10 and June 21, committee Democrats have sent four letters - two to Deutsche Bank, one to Hensarling, and another to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin - requesting documents and answers about Russia's influence on the Trump administration.

"I don't think they're really relevant to our bill and I would just as soon keep our bill focused on the troops and national security", the Texas Republican told CNN.

"They [Republicans] have become enablers of the violation of our Constitution, the attack on the integrity of our elections, the security of our country", Pelosi said.

"My son is a high-quality person and I applaud his transparency", the president said in a statement read to reporters by White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders. It proves that the Trump campaign was not only aware of the Russian government's efforts to meddle in our elections.

House Democrats on Thursday introduced identical legislation to what was already passed by the Senate. "It's called opposition research, or even research into your opponent", Trump said.

"Tonight, House Republicans made themselves accomplices to hiding President Trump's tax returns from the American people", she said in a press conference in February.

Corker pointed to a speck of dust on the floor and told reporters that focusing on the procedural issues Ryan's team has used to explain the House's slow going on Russian Federation sanctions would be like focusing on the speck of dust.

Speaker Paul Ryan and House Foreign Affairs Committee chairman Ed Royce have also expressed a desire to get the legislation passed.

House Republican leaders initially rejected the bill for procedural reasons, prompting the Senate to tweak it. In some ways, his position has evolved: from saying that the story of Russian interference was spread (and possibly invented) by sore-losing Democrats to conceding that Russia was behind the hacks of Democrats' computer systems, and ultimately to confronting Russian President Vladimir Putin about the allegations.

House Democrats say the technical tweaks the Senate made last month make it more hard to bring a review resolution to a vote in the House.

"Each of us standing here is asking House Republicans to take a stand", Watson Coleman said. A department spokesman said Sessions had been told that routine encounters as part of Sessions' Senate duties didn't have to be included on the form.
