Officer shoots and kills woman in Fulton

According to witnesses, Justine approached the police squad auto, with Damond talking to the driver when she was shot and killed by the police officer in the passenger seat.

The Star Tribune quoted three sources which it did not name as saying Damond was in her pajamas when a police auto responding to her 911 call pulled into the alley. The police officers who responded to the Saturday night 911 call were equipped with body cameras, the press release said, but the cameras had been switched off at the time the incident occurred. I just know she heard a sound in the alley, so then she called the police, and the cops showed up. "I'm so done with all this violence", he added.

Trigger happy police in the U.S. city of Minneapolis are now claiming that the body cameras of a police officer who shot dead an unarmed Australian woman investigating a disturbance in the back lane behind her home were mysteriously turned off. "I know that body camera footage has already been useful to this department in myriad ways, and will be again in the future".

Making the effort to get to the bottom of what happened more hard, too, is the fact the two officers involved did not have their body cameras turned on, nor did the squad camera record the fatal shooting, MPR News reported.

The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension confirmed that an officer had fired a weapon, fatally striking a woman.

Both Hodges and Arradondo said they are not releasing the victim's name and said that information will later come from the BCA.

The Women's March of Minnesota and the NAACP organized a vigil.

Betsy Hodges, the mayor of Minneapolis, said, "I have questions about why the bodycams weren't on". "However, at this point the BCA is in the very early stages of the investigation". One of the officers shot and killed the woman.

A woman identifying as a friend of Justine Damond's described her "shock and disbelief" at her death in a tribute on Facebook.

A rally organised by local activist Mel Reeves was held at the site of the shooting, while other community members gathered for a vigil in Ms Damond's neighbourhood.

Justine Damond, who worked as a spiritual mentor, made the tough choice to move across the world in 2015 after meeting her fiancé Don Damond during a workshop in the US.

"This is a very hard time for our family", the statement read.

The police involved reportedly were equipped with body-cameras, however they were not turned on.

"I like to bring love because it impacts people", Ganser said.

"It is now the policy of the Minneapolis Police Department that it not investigate itself in serious officer-involved cases like this", Hodges said.

Investigators said the squad auto video was on but didn't capture what happened at the scene.

"She was committed to love and the relationship that was there for her".

More than 520 people have been shot and killed by police officers in America so far this year, according to the Washington Post, compared with 963 over the entirety of 2016.
