He added: "Just to get Chelsea fans to calm down a bit, I think it will be very, very hard for Chelsea to get Aguero out of Manchester City".

While a lot of water has passed under the bridge since Aguero made this statement, there is absolutely no doubting the potency that the little Argentinian would bring to Jurgen Klopp's front line.

It is hardly surprising the Sky Blues are reportedly not open to selling Aguero, especially not to a direct rival, as he is one of the best strikers in Europe. "It has never been in doubt", he added.

According to the report just reaching, Chelsea want the 29-year-old Aguero to replace Spanish global Diego Costa at Stamford Bridge.

Reports emerged on Monday morning that Chelsea are planning a swoop on Aguero to replace Diego Costa who is on his way to Atletico Madrid.

Following their failure to sign Romelu Lukaku, the Blues have stepped up their pursuit for other targets including Alvaro Morata and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but Aguero has propped up the shortlist due to his valuable top-flight experience. However, the German club say that they have not received any bids for Aubameyang as yet, despite interest being high.

The Spanish defender has been an unsung hero for Chelsea and Antonio Conte rates him very highly, considering him a very important player of the squad, so it seems unlikely that he will move to Barcelona this summer despite their interest. We think this could be a great tie up for both parties and we'd love to see it happen.
