The Spain worldwide was thought to be on the cusp of a move to Madrid in 2015 before a deal fell through on La Liga's deadline day.

"I can guarantee he's not going this season, that I can", Mourinho said, as quoted on The Mirror.

"And my feeling is that it will be very hard for him to go".

"But from distance, it is easy to feel that I repeat the same, the market is very hard".

"He was contacted for a long time [by Real]".

"I see him really happy and focused and working better than ever, so for me 100 per cent he stays with us, David is much better now than before and he has wonderful conditions to impress", Mourinho said.

"I think you can see he's very focused on Manchester United and he's doing a fantastic job for us".

United are in an enviable position regarding their goalkeeping situation given there are few better back-ups than Sergio Romero. "One-hundred per cent he stays", Mourinho said during his pre-match press conference on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

"I'm impressed with [Romero] but I'm also impressed with David", Mourinho said. "It is clear Bale likes Madrid".

"If somebody says I want to buy a player from Man United, I would ask "hey, I'm here, so be careful what you say".

"But both very good and for Joel [Pereira] to be learning with them and playing with us is good".

"I don't hide my plan from the team because in the transfer window last December I didn't use that and I told them my plan was to get four players and give balance to the team to make a better squad". It depends on many things.
