Uttarakhand remembers Kargil martyrs

Broken benches, damaged floodlights and scratched plaques - this was the sight of Rezang La war memorial in Palam Vihar on Tuesday morning when members of the Martyr's family welfare foundation visited the site to plan celebrations ahead of the Kargil Vijay Diwas on Wednesday. He added that he remembers all the martyrs of the was who fought gallantly to keep the country safe.

July 26 is celebrated as the anniversary of India's victory over Pakistan in the 1999 Kargil conflict.

A string of Bollywood celebrities, including Abhishek Bachchan, Juhi Chawla and Raveena Tandon, on Wednesday paid tributes to Indian soldiers and martyrs on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas.

The day, also marked as Shaurya Diwas, commemorates the soldiers who laid their lives during the Kargil War. According to ANI, Adityanath said, "26 July 1999 ko sena ne Pak ko peeche hatne pe majboor kiya tha".
