Gujarat CM appoints senior officer to investigate into attack on Rahul's convoy

Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi's vehicle was on Friday pelted with stones by a mob when he was touring the flood hit areas Gujarat.

"Attack on me was carried out by the BJP-RSS people. Their names came up during the investigation into the attack on Gandhi's vehicle", said Dhanera circle police inspector J N Khant. The incident happened when Gandhi was visiting the Banaskantha area of the state and was on his way from Lal Chowk to the helipad in Dhanera, said Banaskantha superintendent of police Neeraj Badgujar. "In current political scenarios some political parties, Congress party in particular is even politicising the calamity like floods", said BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra.

The Congress, meanwhile, has blamed the BJP and its ideological fountainhead the RSS for the attack, with Rahul himself taking potshots at the PM for not condemning the attack.

The party leaders added that this is not an isolated case of violence since it is happening on a day-to-day basis where they are in power. His auto was attacked by black flag-waving crowds but Gandhi continued with his tour undaunted. Gandhi's auto was pelted with stones on Friday when he had visited Dhanera town to meet victims of the floods. The incident had triggered protests from the Congress.

"In yesterdays incident, the BJP workers hit a big stone at me that hit my PSO".

Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) severely criticized the saffron party for the attack on AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi allegedly by BJP party workers in Gujarat.

"Rahul Gandhi's leadership style is working wonders in his party".

DMK Working President M.K. Stalin said democratic rights of a political party could not be cowed down by violence. "Narendra Modi ji, slogans, black flags and stones will not deter us".

Condemning the incident, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said that a senior officer were appointed to investigate into the incident and assured that a strict action will be taken against the guilty.
