Indian spinner Ravindra Jadeja was suspended from the third Test match against Sri Lanka because of the latest violation of the Code of Conduct due to the recent violation of his code, his total negative points have been six.

Earlier, Ravichandran Ashwin (5-69) claimed his 26th five-wicket haul as he and spin partner Ravindra Jadeja (2-84) tormented Sri Lanka on a deteriorating pitch that allowed for prodigious spin, with the ball often kicking up puffs of dust.

This is for the second time in a row that India have accomplished a Test series win in Sri Lanka - a tricky as well as challenging Test venue for many great sides.

Sri Lanka were sub-standard with the bat in the first innings as they were bowled out for a paltry 183 in reply to India's mammoth 622 for nine declared. Sri Lanka had started the day at 209/2 and had reached 238/2.

The big moment of the session came in the 66th over when K L Rahul dropped Karunaratne (then on 95) at short leg off Jadeja, which didn't prove costly in the long run. The nucleus of team has remained the same over the past two years and India's next test will come in overseas conditions and knowing Kohli he will be desperate to put the results of past behind. "It's all about not getting too frustrated".

"You have to give credit to the batsmen as well". The prospect of a whitewash does excite Kohli but he emphasizes on the culture of winning. "We managed to turn things around and you always feel good as a team when you come back from a hard situation and win the Test match", said Kohli.

"Guys who have both abilities are very rare to find".

Kohli told reporters: "We really feel good as a team that we're able to win consistently right now, but we realise that it's very important to keep carrying on the same way as well". We are creating a habit of winning.

With the Karunaratne and Mathews partnership going strong in the opening session - in fact Karunaratne also registered his fourth Test hundred in the second innings of a Test match on Sunday morning - Kohli turned to Jadeja immediately in the post-lunch session and Jadeja did not disappoint. "I am pleased with the way we batted", the host skipper said and added that using the sweep was a strategic plan. The on-field umpires deemed the throwing "in a risky manner" as it narrowly missed Dimuth Karunaratne, the Sri Lankan batsman.

India did bring on its pacers, Mohammed Shami (0-27) and Umesh Yadav (1-39), for short spells with the new ball, but they were unable to provide breakthroughs. If you see last season, continuing now, he's got about 1500 runs which is outstanding.
