Ronaldo enjoyed a longer vacation than his Real Madrid teammates to fully recover from Portugal's participation in the Confederations Cup in June.

"I'm happy because it's a sign of confidence, that we have done good work", Zidane told a pre-match press conference ahead of Real's Spanish Super Cup showdown with Barcelona when quizzed on reports over his future. The second leg will be at the Santiago Bernabeu on August 16.

While the 21-year-old - who joined Los Blancos from Real Mallorca in 2015 - does not want to leave the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, he is prepared to if manager Zinedine Zidane cannot offer him assurances of more game time.

Real Madrid's Marco Asensio celebrates after scoring their fourth goal during the UEFA Champions League final against Juventus. "This is going to be a hard year because already on Sunday we have a complicated match".

Modric, 31, must serve a suspension picked up for a sending off in Los Blancos' last appearance in the Super Cup three years ago.

Zinedine Zidane's side are clearly wary having seen Neymar leave Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain after the French club met the Brazilian's £198m clause. That match, however, was more about paying homage to the victims of the plane crash that decimated Chapecoense previous year than warming up for Madrid.

Zidane admitted "there aren't many players" with Neymar's individual qualities, but claimed his absence would not give Madrid the upper hand over the two legs in four days with the second leg of the Super cup to come at the Bernabeu on Wednesday.

This will be the first major test for new coach Ernesto Valverde, who replaced Luis Enrique at the start of the summer and a win would go a long way in easing the pressure on the former Athletic Club Bilbao boss. "We want to win all the games and titles possible".
