The 2017 MTV #Video Music Awards show is expected to recognize musical artists for their craft, their contribution and their success this year.

P!nk is the Vanguard recipient this year, and there's a good chance that her signature acrobatics will be on display to compete with Rihanna's four-performance Vanguard set last year.

The Video Music Awards as a rule are known for eyebrow-raising antics (see: Kanye vs. Taylor, Gaga's meat dress, etc.) and Sunday's show will surely be no exception.

A number of big names will be taking to the stage to perform this year. This year's lineup is an impressive power-punch of talent, with performances by Kendrick Lamar, Fifth Harmony, Miley Cyrus, Lorde, The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Shawn Mendes and a special collaboration between DNCE and Rod Stewart.

Fans hoping to live stream the action (who have a valid cable login) will be able to stream all the action via MTV's live TV stream or via the network's app, which is available through iTunes, Apple TV, Google Play, Roku, Xbox One, Amazon, and Chromecast. "Acting is about the ability to put yourself into someone else's shoes - and that doesn't have to be separated into two different categories".

After debuting her new single "Look What You Made Me Do" late Thursday, the singer previewed the music video on Good Morning America Friday.

For the first time, Native American artists will be standing up to celebrate a major nomination during this year's MTV Video Music Awards in the newly-added "Best Fight Against the System" category. Nominees include: "Immigrants (We Get the Job Done)" off the Hamilton Mixtape and Shailene Woodley's protest anthem with Taboo, "Stand Up/ Stand N Rock #NoDAPL".

Transgender members of the United States military service have become hot button issues in the past couple of weeks, after President Donald Trump tweeted the reinstatement of banning such members to serve in the USA military.

Lieutenant Colonel Paul Haverstick, a spokesperson for the Pentagon told CNN that the request is still being reviewed by the defense department.

The 2017 "VMAs" will be broadcast live from the "Fabulous" Forum in Inglewood, California on Sunday, August 27th at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.
