Although the iPod set Apple on the way to financial recovery, it is the iPhone that has come to define the company over the last 10 years.

iPhone 8 Wireless Charging: Is It Good Or Bad?

It demonstrated the new software on an iPhone which looks strikingly different from those now on the market.

With the official launch of the handset looming, we've teamed up with Benjamin for this exclusive interview to share a detailed insight into what to expect from Apple this September.

The Wall Street Journal reported the date today, although Apple has yet to officially announce the event. I was thoroughly disinterested in the iPhone 7 largely because rumours seemed to point towards the iPhone 8 being the one to look out for. The WSJ's report comes a few days after one from the New York Times stating the iPhone 8 will be "priced at around $999".

Earlier this year, Apple joined the Wireless Power Consortium.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo - who has a long track record of accurate predictions of Apple products - predicts the phone will have a revolutionary 3D sensing camera for facial recognition, which will work with Apple's new augmented reality software.

In terms of design, iPhone 8 will have no home button on the front, no Touch ID either and will sport a 5.8-inch bezel-less OLED display with a 2K resolution. While initial rumors suggested Apple would hide the fingerprint scanner under the display, recent reports suggest it has instead chosen to use a face scanning system capable of checking the user's identity in a matter of milliseconds. Although most of these announcements have been focused on Apple's desktops, it's not inconceivable that we see greater attention paid to mobile gaming at the iPhone reveal event.

Once again, none of this is confirmed by Apple, and you will have to wait until the September release of the iPhone 8 to confirm or deny the rumors. "Our wireless charger will wirelessly charge the next iPhones at full speed, as well as being able to charge other mobile devices wirelessly". Also, the previous reports claimed that the phone will be available in 64 and 256GB capacities.
