Briles has denied covering up the sexual assaults.

Briles was dismissed at Baylor on May 26, 2016, for the mishandling of sexual assault issues after Baylor's regents were briefed on the results of an investigation by Philadelphia law firm Pepper Hamilton.

Briles was in the news last week when Florida Atlantic head coach Lane Kiffin and Briles' son, FAU offensive coordinator Kendall Briles, said Art Briles was a sounding board for ideas for the coaches.

Jones was hired as an assistant for Hamilton on August 2. The move comes days after Hamilton promoted former Hawaii and SMU coach June Jones to head following a 0-8 start. Briles first game with Hamilton will be on Labor Day when the Tiger-Cats host their biggest regular season game against their biggest rival the Toronto Argonauts. ESPN has reported that Briles and his assistants "actively intervened" in school disciplinary measures against football players accused of a variety of offenses. Former Commissioner Jeffrey Orridge announced the league would not allow another team to sign Cox despite him being found not guilty.

It is with profound disappointment that we heard the news of the hiring of Art Briles. If Griffin indicates he wants to sign with a CFL team, Hamilton has exclusive rights to sign the former Heisman Trophy victor.
