Lorde of the dance

Following the release of her incredible new album Melodrama, Lorde has been touring the world and performing the songs live, but tonight's performance was a next level rendition of the record's upbeat single "Homemade Dynamite".

Kiwi singer and songwriter Lorde has missed out on Artist of the Year at the VMAs to British singer Ed Sheeran.

Her routine included foot stomps, collapsing on the ground, slow motion boxing moves, being carried in the air by back-up dancers dressed in black, and shoulder shrugs.

She may have been unable to sing for her performance due to a cold, but Lorde looked incredible in a strapless lavendar feather embellished gown from Filipino fashion designer Monique Lhuillier. We wonder if that collapse was choreographed or spontaneous because the singer revealed that she had been battling the flu and even attended the show with an IV in her arm.

Veteran VMA's performer Pink smashed it on the night with a rousing medley of some of her best hits, but Lorde's performance had everyone questioning what was going on with the star.

Lorde was sick with a bad flu.

The performance was medley of songs from the 37-year-old's decade in music, including, Just Give Me a Reason and Get The Party Started.

Lorde walked the red carpet at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards with a very hot accessory: the flu.

While accepting her award Pink delivered an empowering message dedicated to her daughter.
