Two Hizbul terrorists killed, 1 arrested during encounter in Kulgam

Indian army reported that these two were killed in an encounter with troops in Kulgam District.

During searches, the militants opened fire at the forces who retaliated, leading to a gunfight.

It is learnt that a team of Indian Army officials sealed off an area in Khudwani at around 3 AM after receiving a tip off about the presence of Hizbul terrorists.

Following surrender of a terrorist and an (overground worker) OGW, security forces in joint appeal asked the terrorists to surrender to join the mainstream. The arrested terrorist has been identified as Arief Sofi.

Two Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in south Kashmir district of Kulgam early this morning.

An AK-47 rifle, along with two of its magazines and 63 rounds, and an INSAS rifle, with a magazine and 60 rounds, were seized from the encounter site.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the martyred youth have been identified as Sayar Ahmad Wani and Dawood Illahi Khan.

"The slain terrorists were involved in the killing of the sarpanch of Hawoora village and snatching weapons from guard post Samnoo".

The two encounters have occurred in the Kashmir Valley at the time of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh's four-day visit to the state.
