Some excited local media went as far to declare it the death-knell for Faulkner's worldwide career after 67 ODIs, only weeks before his 27th birthday. The fast-bowling all-rounder knew better, however, and his spell in the freezer is set to end in India this month where Australia play the hosts in five ODIs."It was pretty tough", Faulkner said of his axing in comments published by Cricket Australia's website on Tuesday. For the first time in an ODI match, the TNCA will be including 25 per cent Municipality Tax with the ticket fare in accordance to the new tax regulations. In just 194 ODIs, he is level with Ricky Ponting with 30 centuries, the second-highest in ODIs.

Allrounder James Faulkner says it is a good opportunity for Australia to test themselves against one of the best limited-overs teams, in their own country.

Former India batsman VVS Laxman who also was present at the event said that he does not see anything unusual in Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja being rested from the upcoming series.

"In limited-overs cricket, Virat is ahead of Steve, but just by that much. He knows his game a lot better now than when he started his career", Clarke said. When Laxman and Clarke were asked to pick the better captain and batsman among Kohli and Smith, Kohli seemed to be the clear victor.

Smith and Kohli will lead their respective sides in a five-match ODI series, which will be followed by three T20Is scheduled from September 17 to October 13. While both Kohli and Smith are considered modern-day batting greats, the apparent friction between both the captains has added an extra edge to this series.

Clarke added: "Another focal point besides their batting is their assessment as leaders". And at the moment, Kohli's team is winning.

This is not the first time so far, earlier, Australian media during the test series made the Indian captain on headlines in Australian newspapers and media agencies for various reasons.

India won the three-match Test series 3-0, then the ODI series 5-0 and capped off a brilliant tour with a win in one-off T20I.

After a long tour of Sri Lanka, Indian cricket team will be in action once again as they face Australia at home. The Kangaroos managed to only draw the series against Bangladesh, despite traveling to the sub-continent as heavy-favourites. "In my time, seeing the way Sourav would take charge of the team, motivate his players, never taking a backward step, always being aggressive, I think that has transpired on", he said. The likes of Smith, David Warner... they've got to work towards finding what is the right technique and style for these players. They were looking within to improve, as individuals and as a team. Players like Ashton Agar, Hilton Cartwright, Kane Richardson and Matthew Wade were not shortlisted for IPL 10. Hopefully, they attain success and carry it forward into the Australian summer. I have been battling with my knee for the last 18 months.

The fall from grace stung Faulkner, who had been considered among the nation's best white-ball cricketers after being crowned player of the 2015 World Cup final.

"The Australian fans expect Australia to be at the top of the tree, to be number one in the world".
