Ricardo Rosselló (D) tweeted Thursday that he had received confirmation from the White House that Trump will make his first official visit to the USA territory.

The remarks came after Trump praised federal and state officials for their response to Hurricane Irma as he visited Naples and Fort Myers on the state's southwestern coast. The Florida congressional delegation has urged both the Administration and leaders in Congress to ensure that FEMA and other agencies have the recovery resources they need in a timely manner so our communities can rebuild as soon as possible.

Florida officials including Governor Rick Scott and U.S. Senator Marco Rubio greeted Trump and Vice President Mike Pence in Fort Myers, Florida.

About 10 million people - half of Florida's population - remained without electricity Tuesday, two days after Hurricane Irma roared across the length of the state. "You see people immediately getting back to work to fix up their homes".

A possible alliance between Trump and the Democrats on immigration would represent a major political gamble for a president who made promises of tougher border control policies the centerpiece of his campaign and pledged to build a "big, attractive wall" along the U.S. -Mexico border.

Two of the New York Times' most dogged White House reporters are reportedly coauthoring a new book on President Donald Trump.

"It's clear that the entire country is standing with Florida as Hurricane Irma batters our state right now", Gov. Scott said in a statement.

After the visit, President Trump will then return to Washington D.C. where he and the first lady will host the White House Historical Association reception and dinner.

"We keep getting this question on how much this is going to cost", said Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-FL), whose district includes the Florida Keys, which suffered major damage in certain areas.

Earlier in the week, the president sent a message to Florida hurricane victims.

"Details are still being finalized, we hope to have some of that ironed out later today", Sanders said.
