Google Launches Tez, A Mobile Payments App In India

It's advertised as a way to send money, split food bills, or pay local businesses seamlessly through your phone.

Google has just recently launched a special mobile application, called as "Tez", for the goal of allowing its widely growing numbers of customers in India, to make payments and other transactions easily.

"With Tez, you can pay directly from your bank account, which means your money is safe with your bank and you'll continue to earn interest".

The application specifically launched for Indian users is available in various regional languages including Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu apart from Hindi and English.

Finally the much awaited UPI based payment and wallet application, "Tez", by Google has been launched in India on Monday. With a clean interface, Tez app is truly user-friendly. The app also allows the users to view a list of people on their contact list using "Tez".

Get Tez Scratch Cards (TM) in the app and be eligible to win up to ₹1,000 with each eligible transaction. The app also allows users to request money in addition to making payments.

Empowering government's Digital India drive, Google has come up with yet another India focused application made for digital payment.

Enables users to transact with an existing bank account and no need to open a separate account. The number should be the same number which is synced with the bank account. However, all the bank accounts will have to have the same registered mobile number.

Once found, a person can send or receive money without having to share their phone number or bank account details.

The tech-giant has tied up with banks such as Axis, HDFC Bank, ICICI and State Bank of India and others that support UPI.

Google's Tez will sync with the user's mobile number much like in the BHIM app. It will be connected with bank accounts and will provide a secure and easy payment option for both online and physical purchase.

Google has also announced "Tez for Business", an app which will enable merchants to engage directly with customers.

The app also comes loaded with Tez Shield, which adds some extra layer of security and prevents it from getting hacked. Beyond that limit, the banks might start charging a fee.
