Apple is selling 4K content on iTunes at the same price as HD content, so it's also possible that the company made deals with movie studios that included a restriction on 4K downloads.

The Cupertino-based tech firm has also tweaked the Apple TV user interface.

While overshadowed by the launch of Apple Inc.'s (AAPL) flagship iPhones, the tech giant also unveiled its new and improved Apple TV 4K at its September 12 event, demonstrating how the product has evolved to bring TV viewing into the future.

The lack of YouTube 4K comes down to the fact that Apple doesn't support the VP9 video coding format in either the TV or Safari browsers both mobile and Mac. Amazon Prime will also be bringing its 4K HDR content for the new streaming box later this year. However, The Verge still considers the device "expensive to gamble" on until Apple can unleash its "untapped potential".

But is the Apple TV 4K really a nice upgrade? In his review, Engadget's Devindra Hardawar called the Apple TV 4K the set-top box "we've been waiting for", but acknowledged that the device's remote might do little to settle the debate.

As noted in Apple's support documents (via MacRumors), 4K content from the iTunes store can only be streamed. If you've ever fumbled on the couch without your glasses for the Apple TV remote and found yourself holding it upside-down, you appreciate the new tactile differentiation. Ultimately, CNET viewed the new Apple TV as combining "peak picture with a high-end feel nothing else can match, but it costs too much for most people". Apple TV 4K features the powerful A10X Fusion chip which is a faster processor for a smoother gaming experience. You can use Siri, by the way, to find 4K content for you on Apple TV.
