South Africa's new opening batsmen Aiden Markram received another vote of confidence yesterday as captain Faf du Plessis predicted he could have a promising future.

The Tests will be played in Cape Town, Centurion and Johannesburg. Shakib has played 50 worldwide matches across all formats of the game since 2016, and plays for Twenty20 teams in multiple franchise-based leagues around the world. The former West Indies coach faces a challenging first season with the Proteas, with tests against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe followed by back-to-back tours by top-ranked test team India and then Australia.

Bangladesh toiled after surprisingly electing to bowl in the second Test to be staged in Potchefstroom and first since they lost to the Proteas by an innings and 160 runs in 2002.

Markram was one of two debutants selected for the opening Test with Andile Phehlukwayo also drafted into the starting team to supplement the bowling options on what South Africa's captain described as a flat pitch, reminiscent of one that would be used for a one-day worldwide.

India are scheduled to arrive at the Africa nation on December 28 following their recently added Test series at home against Sri Lanka.

"We are pleased to finally announce the complete schedule of global cricket starting tomorrow with the first Test match against Bangladesh", commented CSA Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat.

"South Africa will also be involved with double header T20 global matches between South Africa and India". This will be a big season for South Africa and a real treat for our fans. Featuring both our men's and women's teams on the same day is going to be a very special occasion and most fitting for the women's game which is growing and attracting its own fans.
