"The Australian Government has been carefully monitoring vaccine effectiveness for seasonal influenza vaccines and is committed to exploring enhanced vaccination program arrangements through the NIP, including the use of advanced vaccines for those aged 65 years and over into the future".

"We are pleased to see that the decrease in vaccination coverage among adults age 50 and older we saw in the 2015-2016 season was not sustained during the 2016-2017 season", said Dr. Kathleen Neuzil, director of the Center for Vaccine Development at the University of Maryland.

Vaccines will be provided to children older than 3 and adults only.
