Garbrandt would unleash a flurry of strikes with just over two minutes remaining in the first, putting Dillashaw in trouble. He was on shaky legs walking back to his stool after the round.

The rivalry between the two fighters, who opposed each other early in 2017 as coaches on "The Ultimate Fighter", got juicy during fight week when Garbrandt released sparring footage of him dropping Dillashaw.

The bad blood between the former Team Alpha Male teammates instantly spilled over as Dillashaw jumped into Garbrandt's face once he reached his feet after the bout, forcing Miragliotta to separate them. Dillashaw misses with a hook and Garbrandt blasts to the body and head. "The better shape you are, the better your chin is".

The bantamweight champion admits that if he were to fight at flyweight, dropping the ten pounds would require a lifestyle change. Garbrandt opens up shortly thereafter with a series of punches that back Dillashaw up. But Dillashaw, referencing criticism of his chin made by Garbrandt at Thursday's news conference, had the last laugh. "He holds his hands a little bit low anyway, so I was looking to take advantage of it", said Dillashaw.

The win saw him take back the belt he lost to Dominck Cruz in a split-decision defeat almost two years ago, a loss that clearly still wrankles. Despite what the judges said that night, Dillashaw always felt like he was the champion.

"This belt has been around my waist the whole time in my mind", Dillashaw said. "I am the champion, this is my belt".

"Listen, you can't be in a position where you're like, 'I want $2 million". He got to pad himself and break his record. "You should have been fighting me", he said. I knew he was hurt, he was fast and getting out of the way. "I'm coming to 125's and I'm stopping your record".
