McGregor then followed Goddard across the cage before giving him a slight shove him in the back, just before officials intervened.

The referee for the fight was Marc Goddard, who warned McGregor for coaching Artem Lobov at the recent UFC event in Gdansk, Poland.

It all went down after Ward won by 1st-round KO at Bellator 187 - which prompted McGregor to jump into the cage to show his SBG Ireland teammate some love.

At the end of the first round, after Ward dropped Redmond with a left hook, McGregor scaled the cage to celebrate with Ward who had seemingly vanquished his foe. Upon being confronted, McGregor slaps the the official before his teammate Ward runs over to him.

It is not immediately clear whether McGregor will face any disciplinary action by the UFC or a regulatory body. Even more, he brought attention to Bellator MMA, UFC's chief rival.

McGregor was knocked out by Floyd Mayweather during his pro boxing debut in August. Bellator 187 will air in its entirety tonight on Spike TV at 9pm ET.

McGregor's problem with Ferguson comes purely from a financial standpoint after his last fight against Kevin Lee pulled in a paltry $678,000 in a live gate with a pay-per-view that the lightweight champion claims finished with only $100,000 buys.

A champion at two weight divisions, McGregor has yet to defend his title at either one, while growing to become the biggest star in the sport in the process - helped by a wild feud with Nate Diaz at welterweight in 2016.
