Charles Manson is now hospitalized and is reportedly near death.

"It's just a matter of time", the source said, according to TMZ.

Vicky Waters, a spokeswoman for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, told the LA Times that Manson is still alive, but she did not comment on the severity of his condition.

The 83-year-old Manson was rushed from his cell at the Corcoran State Prison to a Bakersfield hospital earlier this week.

Along with members of his "family", the cult leader was convicted for killing seven people, including actress Sharon Tate, who was 8 1/2 months pregnant.

Tate, the wife of director Roman Polanski, was 8 1/2 months pregnant when she was killed at her hilltop home in Benedict Canyon on August 9, 1969. The word "pig" was written on the front door in blood.

It's unclear at which hospital Manson is being treated.

He established the "Family" cult at a ranch in California's Death Valley and arranged a slew of murders in an attempt to provoke war between white and blacks.

In California prisons inmates are provided with medical care.
