Margot Robbie confirms 'totally separate' Harley Quinn movie in the works

"I was like, 'She needs her girlfriends'". But damn if we don't want to see Margot Robbie in pigtails and booty shorts for another three hours.

In an interview to MTV, Margot said, "I've been working on a separate spin-off for Harley for a while now". But then there's also an untitled Joker and Harley Quinn movie (not to be confused with the solo Joker origins movie), which will, you guessed it, star Margot Robbie.

Critics praised her performance more than anything else in the film, and there has already been talk of a film starring her character and Jared Leto's joker, as well as the sequel - the inventively titled Suicide Squad 2. The only clue to this is that she says she has been working on it for two years.

"I, honestly, don't think anyone knows what's going to be the next thing to happen, but I think everyone's keen to get Harley back on screen", she said. So the news that the actor is developing her own "totally separate" outing for the baseball bat wielding, bubble gum blowing baddie is welcome indeed. I kept saying it while we were filming Suicide Squad. Yeah, I'm sure Warner Bros. won't bungle this all.

Harley Quinn

Ultimately, what will be the test of a Harley Quinn spin-off - or any Warner Bros.

Given the general state of disarray that the DCEU appears to be in after Justice League, more Harley Quinn movies seem like a safe bet.

So, we all thought Suicide Squad was going to be great, and it wasn't. You want to show them the characters they fell in love with, but you also can't be paralyzed by the idea of 'How do we please everyone?' because it's just not going to happen with any film.

No other details were disclosed at press time - it is under lock and key, after all - but this certainly cements Harley Quinn's future (and Margot Robbie's) in the DC Extended Universe. It seems like it's best for Warner flawless their craft instead of tacking on even more projects on their already-hefty plate. Sound off in the comments!
