The driver plowed his auto into at least six people about 4:30 a.m.in the Richmond Hill neighborhood in Queens, according to the New York Police Department.

A New York City detective said the incident wasn't terror-related.

Queens resident Milagros Urbina told CBS New York that she heard some screaming before she saw the auto barreling down the sidewalk. "The bodies went flying". As several people were trying to stop the fight, a auto came rushing down the sidewalk, plowed into the group and kept going.

He said the driver was "going after someone" and witnessed a girl holding a man back. "No, no, ' when this vehicle just comes from nowhere and hits the whole group", Rogers told the paper.

The stabbing victims were in stable condition. They were also taken to Jamaica hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the driver struck at least six people, one of whom was pronounced dead at the scene. The names and ages of the people struck were not immediately available. The others were in stable condition.

Police are still looking for the driver, who was driving a white Hyundai Sonata, Jones said. He pleaded not guilty last week to terrorism charges.
