Herm Edwards has officially been named the new coach of the Arizona State Sun Devils football team, after spending nine years with ESPN as an NFL analyst. He will be the 24th head coach in the history of the program. Enjoy the best soundbites from Edwards' press conference!

"Our goal for this football program is to reach unprecedented heights, and therefore we need to find a way to operate more innovatively and efficiently than we have in the past", Anderson said. Edwards, a former NFL head coach and current ESPN analyst will assume the head coach position and serve as football CEO according to ASU athletic director Ray Anderson.

Edwards, 63, has not coached at the college level since 1989 when he was the defensive backs coach at San Jose State. He now takes over for a Sun Devils program that has not won more than eight games since 2014. This the same Edwards who hasn't coached at any level in almost a decade and not in college sine the 1980s. He was a head coach for eight years in the National Football League with the Jets (2001-05) and Chiefs (2006-08). He spent his first five years with the New York Jets where he went 39-41 and 2-3 in the postseason.

Edwards, a 63-year-old ESPN analyst and former National Football League head coach, will lead the charge as "a head coach who serves as a CEO", according to athletic director Ray Anderson, Edwards' former National Football League agent. Edwards was known for his colorful ways when he coached the Chiefs, and that was the case Monday.

"Passion for my faith, my family and my occupation as a football coach are the things that have driven me back to the grass", Edwards said.

Edwards also offered up this gem as he paraphrased former Arizona State star Pat Tillman: "Football ignites my soul".
