"I only saw her last Monday and I am in shock", legendary singer wrote.

While John didn't explain the circumstances surrounding his mother's death, Elton announced this past Spring that he had reconciled with his mum after being estranged from her for nearly a decade. Travel safe Mum. Thank-you for everything.

The "Crocodile Rock" singer disowned his mother in 2008 after he instructed Farebrother to cut off all contact with his former friends who served as business partners.

This news comes months after the two reconciled after years of not speaking to one another. The following month he posted a tribute to her for Mother's Day in the U.S. on Twitter.

I had no intention of dropping John and Bob and I told Elton so.

The milestone birthday prompted Sir Elton to get back in touch, and the pair continued to work on their relationship.

Elton and Sheila had been estranged for almost a decade.

The 70-year-old singer spoke about his mother's death on social media Monday. Farebrother told the Telegraph in 2015 that she blamed her son-in-law David Furnish for the lapse in communication with her son.

Taking to Instagram, Sir Elton shared a photo of them together. All reminded Elton how special a mother's love is and suggested he not cry for what he's lost but smile for the special times he has had with her. I don't hate my mother. but I don't want her in my life'. And he banged the phone down.

She said: "I told him: I'm not about to do that and drop them. Imagine! To me, his mother".

John signed the post, "Love, Elton".

No doubt John is grateful for the time he was able to spend with his mother before it was too late.
