North winds of 8 to 14 miles per hour and a relative humidity in the low 20's caused the fire to spread rapidly to the south. It's unclear if the fire is burning the vineyard or the house as well. At least 225 firefighters were on the scene, with the LAFD getting additional helicopter help from the Los Angeles County Fire department. The 405 North freeway remains closed between the 10 and the 101 freeways, making it challenging to access some local businesses. Residents for the area east of the 405, Mulholland to the North, Sunset to the South and Rosomare to the East were warned to prepare for an evacuation.

Residents near Mandeville Canyon and Sullivan Canyon should be ready to go.

Shortly after 6 a.m., mandatory evacuations were ordered for Moraga Drive, Linda Flora Drive, and Casiano Road, down to Bellagio Road, according to the LAFD. "Thus far, their dedicated efforts have prevented the loss of life", said Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) on its official website.

As Southern California firefighters continue their struggle to contain fires throughout Los Angeles and surrounding counties on Wednesday, commuters found themselves driving next to raging fires that now are threatening the Westwood, Brentwood and Bel-Air neighborhoods of West L.A.

West Los Angeles neighborhoods are connected by the Santa Monica Mountains, known to hikers and Angelenos as the "backbone". "All Getty buildings have sophisticated filtration systems, but their effectiveness can be compromised by heavy traffic going in and out of the buildings". Firefighting crews were setting up on the southbound side of the 405 to prevent the fire from jumping the freeway, and northbound vehicles were being turned back. It remained unclear whether any structures had been damaged or destroyed in the fire.
