New 'Ready Player One' Trailer Further Reveals Spielberg's Return to Blockbuster Filmmaking

This trailer delves deeper into the plot of the film, revealing much more of both the OASIS world and the real world.

Here's the Warner Bros. breakdown of what to expect from Ready Player One. The Iron Giant, who appeared in the film's San Diego Comic-Con trailer, can be seen again here, and fans of the hit online shooter "Overwatch" will be surprised to find the game's most popular character, Tracer, in this trailer running into battle alongside Chun-Li from "Street Fighter". Now even more people are starting to get invested in the world as the creator of this virtual world has passed away, and he's left behind a nerdy, massive Easter egg hunt in his stead.

Though the story is futuristic, the trailer has a retro feel, with Van Halen's 1984 anthem "Jump" playing under images that seemingly pay homage to pop-culture relics like "Back to the Future", "Saturday Night Fever" and "Tron".

In the new trailer, keep an eye out for plenty of 1980s pop-culture references, since that neon-splashed era was when Halliday grew up. Directed by Spielberg from a screenplay by Zak Penn and Ernest Cline, Ready Player One was produced by Spielberg, Donald De Line, Kristie Macosko Krieger and Dan Farah; with Adam Somner, Daniel Lupi, Chris DeFaria and Bruce Berman as executive producers.

Earlier this year we got a small peek into the world of 2045 OH where Wade Watts (played by X-Men Apocalypse's Tye Sheridan) escapes his bleak world through the OASIS, a virtual world where he joins an elaborate treasure hunt.

The nostalgia factor is set on high in the new trailer for Ready Player One. It stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Simon Pegg, T.J. Miller and Ben Mendelsohn.
