Caldwell-Pope's legal problem started on March 29, when he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in MI while he was a member of the Pistons.

The Los Angeles Lakers guard is now in the process of serving a 25-day jail sentence yet he is being allowed to continue practising with his team and is able to play in some games, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday.

Caldwell-Pope is now serving a 25-day jail sentence after he violated his probation, the Los Angeles Times reported. Believe it or not, he's also now an active member of the Los Angeles Lakers. Caldwell-Pope worked out a deal with the prosecutor's office in Auburn Hills to serve his sentence in the Seal Beach Police Department Detention Center, which is 30 miles south of the Staples Center.

The probation stems from an incident during Caldwell-Pope's tenure with the Pistons when he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of allowing someone to operate his vehicle while under the influence.

"Caldwell-Pope is reportedly allowed to participate in practices and home games, but not permitted to travel outside the state of California, which explains his absence from Wednesday night's win over the Rockets in Houston".

"This is a legal matter, stemming from an incident that occurred last season while Kentavious was a member of another National Basketball Association team", the Lakers said in a statement on Saturday.

Aside from wearing a Global Positioning System monitor when leaving the detention facility, KCP must also submit to a breathalyzer test whenever he returns. "As such, we will have no further comment at this time".

Caldwell-Pope is averaging 14.2 points five rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.8 steals and 34.8 minutes per game in 25 games with the Lakers this season.

Caldwell-Pope was not with the team during its light workout in Oakland, California, on Thursday but is expected to join the team on Friday for its game at.
