Five CRPF men, 2 militants killed in Pulwama attack

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh on Sunday condemned the terror attack on a CRPF camp in Pulwama district which left four personnel dead.

The martyred Odia jawan was identified as Pradeep Kumar Panda of Liploi village in Rajgangpur of Sundergarh district.

The CRPF Training Centre building which militants attacked in Lethpora is up in flames as the firings from both the sides is going on.

With one of the three militants who had barged into the CRPF training centre at Lethpora still alive, reports said one CRPF man was killed in renewed gun-battle.

The Jaish-e-Mohammad has claimed responsibility for the attack.

"They were armed with under-barrel grenade launchers and automatic weapons". The exchange of fire was on when reports last came in. "There is quite possibility of similar type of attack on other camp also", said the CRPF. According to the CRPF, the main building of the camp comprises of three blocks - with Block 1 allotted to accommodate the families of the officials and the Block 3 having a hospital and a control room.

The militants managed to enter the camp at around 2.10 am. The casualties were suffered in the initial attack by the militants, the sources said. They (militants) were trying.

With the daybreak, more troops were called in to neutralise the terrorists. He was also a close aide of Ghazi Baba - who is accused to be the mastermind behind the attack on the Indian Parliament in 2001.
