By allowing users to post Instagram stories to WhatsApp, Facebook apparently aims at bringing cross-post ability, as far as post 24-hour disappearing stories are concerned.

The posts will go on Instagram stories and WhatsApp status at the same time as there is an option for cross-posting the updates, according to The Independent. The feature will allow users to share photos, GIFs, videos decorated with emojis and stickers as their WhatsApp status.

"We are always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you", a Facebook spokesperson told TechCrunch.

Facebook could soon offer users an option to post the same Story to three networks that are all owned by the tech giant.

After users in Brazil spotted the new option, Instagram confirmed to Tech Crunch that the feature is now in testing. Currently, if you are an Instagram user, you can share your Instagram story on Facebook by linking your account. It also broke WhatsApp's record of the most messages sent in one day. This will remove the messaging feature from the main app. Adding WhatsApp's Story-like statuses in the mix would be another outlet for Instagram users to share their Stories.

As mentioned, the feature is now under works and is available for select users to test.

Like all tests, the fact that the feature exists for a handful of users doesn't mean that it will become globally available inside the Instagram app - just that Instagram is serious enough about the possibility to test it. So, this feature is still under the tentative approval, wait for it until you see it appearing officially on Instagram. It's pretty popular, boasting of over 300 million daily active users.
