In his final TV role in 2015, Jerry Van Dyke reprised his role on "The Middle", guesting alongside his brother, Dick.

The comedian - who is the younger brother of legendary actor Dick Van Dyke - passed away at his ranch in Arkansas on Friday (05.01.18). She was with him by his side as he passed, and Shirley revealed that Jerry's health had been deteriorating ever since the couple got involved in a auto accident two years ago.

We're told Dick visited them at the ranch over the Christmas holiday.

Van Dyke was characteristically good-humored about the meandering nature of his career, telling USA Today in 1990 that the Emmy nominations he received for the role marked its peak. After Coach he had roles in My Name is Earl, Raising Hope, The Millers and most recently as Tag Spence, Patricia Heaton's TV dad, in The Middle.

The younger Van Dyke made his acting debut on "The Dick Van Dyke" show, and made appearances on "The Ed Sullivan Show" before joining "The Judy Garland Show" as a regular. Jerry, you were hilarious and terrifically talented - what an honor to be able to watch up close as you and your brother create your special magic.
