Norwich City hold Chelsea as Blues lack cutting edge

The result means yet another match for Chelsea in an already busy schedule.

The last time City went beyond the third round was five seasons ago but there was no sign of an inferiority complex as Murphy exposed the Chelsea backline but fired harmlessly across the face of the goal and another chance went begging. We knew very well before we played tonight the game would be very tough. When you play in this trophy you know it is very hard, but today the commitment of my players was very good.

The first half was an unforgettably forgettable one, with neither keeper being properly tested.

"Our movement wasn't good enough. He has a lot of space for improvement in his career". "At the same time you have to praise the opponent because Norwich played a good game, defended very well and the final result was fair".

"We have to play another game - the schedule is busy".

David Luiz was lucky not to let Alex Pritchard midway through the first half when the Brazilian dallied on the ball - after receiving a pass from Willy Caballero on the edge of the penalty area - but, luckily for Luiz, the ball cannoned to safety. We had difficulty offensively, we were poor. "In the first half we had difficulty to attack but in the second half we created chances to score", he told reporters. "I must be pleased with the commitment for my players".

The Third Round replay will take place at Stamford Bridge on the week commencing the 15th of January; the official date will be confirmed as soon as the matches for television coverage have been selected.

The article claimed the club would be afraid of criticism, while Roman Abramovich respects the history the defender has for them.

Bad days happen (in fact, we were just talking about Chelsea's 1-1 draw with Southend at the Bridge back in 2008-09 in this same round), and at least we didn't lose - Norwich were not almost good enough for that. Hopefully, they'll produce something more than just commitment then.
