Charred body of technician found in Kanjurmarg studio fire

A fire broke out in the City Civil and Sessions Court near the Fort campus of the University of Mumbai on Monday.

Some eight fire tenders have been pressed into service to douse the flames.

Although the studio had fire-fighting equipment installed, it was not functional, said fire officials.

At least one person has been confirmed dead in Saturday night's fire at Cinevista studio in Mumbai's eastern suburb of Kanjurmarg, reports said.

No casualties or injuries have been reported yet.

Though the building did not suffer any major damage, some official records and electrical wirings were gutted, the official said. The fire was successfully brought under control by 8.30 am and no causalities were reported.

Sources are saying that Sony Tv's upcoming show which is featuring Jennifer Winget currently-running show which is featuring Zayed Khan, Nikita Dutta, Vatsal Seth was being shot when the fire broke out. "Nearly 150 people had been evacuated", said deputy chief fire officer Shyam Kharbade.

According to reports, proceedings inside the court are expected to be affected as the upper portion of the third floor has been badly affected in the fire.

On December 28, 14 people were killed and over a dozen injured after a fire broke out in two rooftop pubs in the city's Kamala Mills compound in Lower Parel locality.
