No threat to local school after alarming Facebook post

The vague threat has caused concern at schools in other states across the US with the initials SHS. Appropriate action is being taken by law enforcement in that state. The Fort Wayne Police Department told Fort Wayne Community Schools officials the posting appears to have been made in Ohio.

"I do know that the Federal Bureau of Investigation was involved last night, the Clark County Sheriff's Office and the Springfield Police Division also", Hill said.

The second Facebook status, posted 11 minutes later, reads, "Yes SHS is the school I want".

The recipient of the message reported the threat to her parents and the Springfield police school officer was notified.

Riverside Poly also posted a statement to parents on its Facebook page, as did the school district. The department said no positive threat was confirmed for Spiro.

Confusion about a planned student walkout at Springfield High School triggered unfounded fears Tuesday that a school shooting might be imminent.

On Thursday morning, Fairborn High School, was put on a precautionary lockdown as police checked the building following a threat made on social media.

"We appreciate everyone's concern in the matter and continued vigilance for the safety of our children", the Schenectady post states.

Shorewood Police are investigating the threat, along with police agencies all over the country with schools containing the initials "SHS".

Cliff School is in session today and law enforcement is on campus, but Principal Spurgeon referred other questions to Superintendent Audie Brown, who could not be reached for comment by 1:30 p.m. this afternoon. As everyone is aware our school is on break this week.

Springfield School District spokeswoman Jen McCulley said Tuesday that the added police presence was "purely precautionary".
