Samsung's Galaxy S9 shows company not messing with previous success

AR Emoji uses a data-based machine learning algorithm, which analyses a 2D image of the user and maps out more than 100 facial features to create a 3D model that reflects and imitates expressions, like winks and nods, for true personalisation.

Wireless charging for mobile phones brings a seamless user experience to Samsung users, as they can simply wirelessly charge their phones at home or using Powermat's Charging Spots located in public venues around the globe. While the Galaxy S9 comes with the same design seen on the Galaxy S8 line-up, it's the Nokia 8 Sirocco that tries to do something new by adopting a refreshed design involving curved glass melting into the phone's steel body from all sides. The Galaxy S9 gets a 12-megapixel sensor while the S9 Plus has a dual 12-megapixel system. The Galaxy S9 has 4GB RAM, the S9+ comes with 6GB RAM.

The major improvements have been in this department and their tagline claims that the S9 and S9+ will "reimagine" the camera.

The camera can also shoot super slow-motion videos at 960 frames per second. Both devices come with OIS.

Samsung's answer is AR Emoji, and it advances the idea with a cartoon that looks kind of like you. This footage can be exported as a GIF or be used as a moving wallpaper on the phone. Reports also suggest that the Galaxy S9 along with the S9+ could be launched in India as early as March 6, and will start shipping to buyers starting March 16.

The more affordable phone from the Galaxy S9 line-up is being expected to sport a price tag that's in excess of Rs 60,000. It is interesting to note that this will be the fastest that a Galaxy device has been introduced in the Indian market. The S9+ has an additional telephoto lens, but the S9's single lens camera is not to be underestimated.

Although Apple has an incredibly popular phone on their hands, that's not to say that the Galaxy S9 and Google Pixel 2 don't put up a fierce fight. You can also locate the place you are in or point it at the food in your plate, and it will calculate the number of calories you would consume and feed it in the Samsung Health app. Local pricing has not been announced at the time of writing.

However, like most things in life, there's a price to pay for getting the ultimate smartphone features.
