A police spokeswoman, LA officer Rosario Herrera, declared that the suspect, Terry Bryant aged 47, was detained with a grand theft felony.

The Los Angeles Police Department has made an arrest in the case of best-actress victor Frances McDormand's stolen Oscar.

Video captured by The Associated Press appears to show the man who authorities say stole Frances McDormand's best actress Oscar walking out of the official Academy Awards after-party. The photographer did not recognize Bryant as a recipient from the awards show and believed he was in possession of a trophy which did not belong to him.

The police said in a statement: "The incident occurred as Bryant was exiting The Governors Ball".

It was not immediately clear in what capacity he was attending the event, but police said he had a ticket.

McDormand's Oscar was awarded for playing a vengeance-seeking mother who is let down by the authorities after her daughter is raped and murdered.

McDormand was reunited with the trophy Sunday night after it went missing during the Governor's Ball, where she was celebrating her second career best-actress win for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

It's understood to have been taken at an after-party following the ceremony in Hollywood.

This is mine. We got it tonight, baby.

"They celebrated the reunion with a double cheeseburger from In-N-Out Burger", her representative added.
