"Time To Close Gender Pay Gap", urges Senator Ivana Bacik

To mark International Women's Day, the French government has unveiled a task force to monitor the gender gap in the workplace and promote professional equality, said Marlene Schiappa, secretary of state for gender equality on Thursday.

Currently, International Women's Day is still considered an official holiday in the following countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

This was the consensus of participants in a seminar entitled Women On Worth - Gender Equality And Feminity In The Business World. For one day, women danced, sang, marched, and chanted.

Now in the House of Commons, there are twice the number of men than women elected in Parliament, and at the current rate of progress it will take 50 years to achieve gender equality in Parliament.

Over the past year, women from all walks of life rose up in protests, power building and advocacy over issues of equality and harassment.

Trudeau will receive the 2018 Catalyst for Change Award and deliver remarks at the equal voice International Women's Day luncheon. "As a Council, we would like to honour the women in our community and encourage them to continue to Press for Progress".

This year, the United Nations theme for International Women's Day, is "Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women's lives".

"We're delighted to be involved in celebrations for this global movement, which we wholeheartedly support, and hope our employees relish the opportunity to participate in the name of all of the women in their lives".
