VW to show pickup in NY; could be made in Chattanooga

Several motorists feared for their lives after being forced to swerve across two lanes of motorway traffic when the incidents occurred, according to Slater and Gordon.

The company has tried to undermine the basis of the survey conducted by law firm Slater & Gordon, saying that the survey was neither reliable or 'representative of the experience of owners of affected vehicles in the United Kingdom or elsewhere in Europe'.

The secondary school teacher, from Altrincham, Cheshire, said: "I've never been that frightened in the vehicle before".

"I was in the outside lane, overtaking another vehicle, and suddenly I felt the power dropping".

"I don't think anyone will be able to get the cost calculation right since you need the volumes", said another company source familiar with the project.

VW may introduce a pickup concept this week at New York Auto Show

In addition to this a fifth of drivers have suffered reduced fuel efficiency since the fix and eight per cent have had more than five separate malfunctions. "The survey results are deeply troubling". Last year, the VW brand paid out 13.8 billion euros ($17.05 billion) to settle fines, claims and other costs relating to the emissions scandal. We have made it clear that we do not anticipate that our United Kingdom customers have suffered any loss or financial detriment as a result of the NOx issue.

Owners of affected vehicles in the United States are being offered compensation worth thousands of pounds each, but the manufacturer is refusing to make payouts in the UK.

A High Court hearing was scheduled today to decide which of two legal firms would take the lead in a suit against Volkswagen following the Dieselgate recall fix that was first announced back in 2015.

The voluntary fix has been implemented on around 840,000 affected United Kingdom vehicles, with the "overwhelming majority of customers in question fully satisfied", the spokesman added.
