Far Cry 5 is the fastest selling game in the franchise

Ubisoft also recorded record-breaking numbers of users engaging with Far Cry 5 content. It is somewhat odd that despite being quite a massive franchise, reviews for the games in recent years have never been particularly spectacular.

I would, therefore, say that in terms of reception that the 5th game falls somewhere between 3 and 4.

As well as the hype around Far Cry 5, this is likely driven by the fact that Playerunknown's Battlegrounds has been out for a year now, and sales are of course going to decelerate over time; PUBG was simply never going to maintain the upward trajectory it was on in its first year forever. More than 55,000 hours of gameplay have been streamed on Twitch and YouTubes with videos earning more than 117 million views combined. The latter now being over 10 years old.

Set in America, a first for the franchise, FC5 offers players total freedom to navigate a serene-looking yet deeply twisted world as the new junior deputy of fictional Hope County, Montana. Not only that, but FC5 is now the second biggest Ubisoft launch behind Tom Clancy's The Division.

Ubisoft also shared some other fun statistics about the way people have been playing Far Cry 5, including Boomer being the most popular fang for hire. "We're grateful to newcomers and fans of the series who have joined us in Hope County and have collectively grown our community".
